Why Background Checks are Important for Nonprofit Organizations

You would think that people who volunteer or apply for nonprofit organizations have a golden heart.  They are there because they want to serve and make the world a better place to live in.  Ideally, that should be the case but realistically, the truth is far from that.  It is a good thing that even nonprofit organizations screen their applicants because otherwise, a lot of people who should not be there would have made it in.  Nonprofit organizations only have the best of the best people in terms of character because they learn more about an individual before accepting them.  They do ...

Think Twice Before Signing A Background Check Consent

Author: Matthew Bass

In today’s job market you must sign a consent form for a background check prior to employment. Employers have widespread availability to information on the Internet and put it to good use given all the events of security compromises in the workplace. Employers are responsible for the well being of their employees and scrutinize potential hires to avoid risks.

As soon as you sign the consent form your past history is completely available to your prospective employer. Employers no longer just verify resumes and educational history. They also check your driving records, credit history, military records and court records. Some employers have been known to even interview your neighbors and former co-workers during the course of their background check. There is a tremendous amount of a lack of privacy in our society today. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of inaccurate information available to your potential employer. As easily as mistakes can show up on your credit report, mistakes can also show up during the course of a pre employment background check. This inaccurate information may cost you that dream job you’ve always wanted. On the bright side, you do have some rights under the Fair Federal Credit Reporting Act, which can help in some cases if you are denied employment as a result of inaccurate information. However, beware that there are major loopholes in the law.

Simply signing the consent form doesn’t give your employer a cart blanche right to dig up all of your dirt. You must also sign a separate consent form know as an investigative consumer report if they want to speak with your friends, neighbors or past co-workers. In addition, if they want medical information you must also give specific consent for that. A company’s goal is to find out as much as they can about the skills and behaviors an applicant will bring to an organization. Employers are basically trying to establish whether you will be a good fit for the organization and what type of risk you might pose to that organization.

Most pre employment background checks focus on employment history, educational background, credit history, motor vehicle history and criminal background. Employment and educational background checks verify information that employees have provided in resumes and on job applications, so it's important to be honest on your resume and when filling out a job application. A lot of people are shocked when a pre employment background check turns up something that is different than the information they've provided. If you sign a consent form for a pre employment background check, it's safe to assume that the company you are seeking employment with will be conducting such a screening.

Reverse Phone Number Check - How To Get Rid of Annoying Prank Calls

Have you ever been called at 4 AM without anyone actually talking at the other end of the line? Have you ever been called by unknown numbers and trash talked or maybe pranked? Or maybe with a hidden cell phone? If you can answer positively to any of these questions and it happens constantly, you are obviously the victim of prank calls. They are usually coming from people who have something to share with you, while in some other cases the number is randomly picked. Of course, you can lose all these pranks by not giving the caller the opportunity to enjoy the pranks. You can set your cell phone silent while you sleep or just ignore and never answer calls from unknown numbers, but then again, continuous calls are annoying and at one point or another, you will end up frustrated. There is also another solution, by filling a harassment report at a law enforcement agency. However, if they have no information about the caller, your case may just get dusty while waiting to be self solved. What is the solution then? It is called reverse phone number check and you can find it anywhere.

A reverse phone number check is something you cannot normally do yourself through your phone. A simple check will get everything that is available about your caller. It may sometimes include the location, or the name, maybe an address too or an e-mail. Sometimes you may get all of this information.

Finding a reverse phone number check service is not difficult. There are plenty out there and you can perform the check from the comfort of your armchair, through the Internet. There are multiple web sites who maintain large databases with various information gathered from the Internet. At the same time, the service also does an extra search just in case, to catch some new information that may have become available over the web. The only problem you may encounter is finding the proper reverse phone number check. With such a wide variety of options, you don't know which one is right. Besides that, the free ones are more rare than four leaf clovers. Therefore, check out some reviews, maybe even look after a short trial period. It is almost useless to purchase such a service and not find anything.

Anyway, no matter how advanced and reliable your reverse phone number check service is, there may still be some problems. If the one bothering you is really serious about you and has a solid grudge, you may never find out who it is since prepaid cell cards are very hard to track. Besides that, if the number is new and purchased from the store around the corner only to bother you, your chances are close to zero and you will end up with the free solution - ignoring unknown phone calls and setting your phone silent while you sleep.

Overall, such cases are not that common. A reverse phone number check should give out positive results in over 75 percent of the cases and get your issue solved, therefore it is a practical solution a lot of people rely on.
